How to find an online personal trainer?

First of all, you need to know WHY you want an online personal trainer. Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to improve flexibility? Or maybe you want to learn how to perform a specific skill such as a handstand or a pistol squat? By narrowing down your goals, you narrow down your search.

Most online personal trainers have an Instagram and/or a Youtube account where they post short clips of their workouts and display their skills. I would definitely spend some time looking through a lot of content that demonstrates not just sexy body, but the ability to teach others and get results. Find at least 5 trainers who teach the skills you what to learn and who have testimonials from their clients either on their IG page or on their website/Yelp page. If a trainer has tons of followers but zero testimonials it is a red flag. If a trainer only posts videos of themselves working out, it is another red flag. Find a trainer who has videos of them working with their clients in person and online.

Your third step is to reach out to those 5 trainers and try to get a trial session with them before committing fully. Explain to them what your goals are and what your limitations are (previous injuries, chronic pain, etc.) , and set an appointment with each instructor spaced out at least a day from one another, so that you have time to rest and feel into your body not only during, but after your workout. Don’t be afraid to ask questions before and after your first session. Inability to answer you or untimely responses demonstrate that this trainer is either not knowledgeable enough in the field or is not committed to taking you up as a student. I believe that personal training extends beyond the actual training session. An instructor who cares will follow up and spend extra time on answering your questions. You also need to find a person who is punctual and respectful of your time, so if they keep moving or canceling your appointment, it’s another bad sign. Ideally, you need to find a person who you truly enjoy learning from and interacting with, and who can not only help you achieve your goals, but also help you become a better version of yourself! In other words, your personal trainer needs to be an inspiring person for you.

I am currently available for online personal training and would love to help you on your journey! I offer a free trial session, flexible payment plans, and I am here to answer any questions you might have. Here are some videos of me teaching one of my clients online.
